I've never felt more compelled to speak out about model's weight than ever, as someone who aspires to play a bigger role in Fashion in the future i'm forever flicking through Vogue or Elle for inspiration. I was on Discoteque Confusion's blog when i found these scans from VOGUE ITALIA of Ali Michaels and all i'm thinking about is how this can be even allowed.
First of all, Ali is barely a women and there she is being presented as the ideal body of summer, the desirable form of a women and of course the desirable form for many teenagers.
I'm a small size 0 myself and have always eaten whatever i've liked, until added pressure like this began to make me more and more paranoid. I've gotten past that phase and i'm back to eating normally. But this editorial has made me feel sick, because its images like this which promote you to starve yourself, to criticize everything about yourself and to diet.
This is exactly the same as a malnourished child in a third world country, except add in the beautiful background and the designer bikini and you've got 'Fashion'. Fuck that, i'm disgusted and i hope you are too. There's one thing because Natasha Poly and size 0 but healthy, but putting a half naked teen in the magazine writing around with all bones in its full glory is appalling.
